quip and retort

"I had a tree in my backyard from the storm"
the pretentious woman quips.
"I have the ocean in my backyard"
my husband retorts.

admiring my husband

in his wading boots
he carries our tan terrier
to dry ground to poop

poem

Lunar Eclipse

she glows so bright it's hard to see
her perpetual companions.
but soon she'll darken inch by inch
until she all but fades from view.
from rounded light to crescent smile
once shrouded, she'll return full face.
each phase an absolute delight,
a full and shining eclipsed moon.

poem

My Conclusion

Myths were concocted to guide the innocent, the ignorant,
lore invented to fight off fear, and
lies devised to support the powerful.

Fears, and the unknown, created gods
Seekers of the meaning of life created gods
Men seeking omnipotence created gods

My conclusion: man created god

poem

The World Wide Web

A song, a blog, a streaming video flick -
the whole wide world just a double click

A virus, a Trojan, an invading worm -
protection needed against these germs

Hackers, and phishing and endless spam
A truth? A lie? A scam?

Some want Jesus, some want porn,
no such thing as the norm.
Checking the market, playing a game,
a site that offers you instant fame.

You post your ideas, or upload your song
and usually not before very long
an e-mail arrives from England or Spain
acknowledging your effort was not in vain.
